EMDR Intensives

What is an EMDR Intensive?

EMDR intensives offer a focused, accelerated path to healing from trauma, anxiety, and depression. Instead of meeting weekly over several months, you commit to one to three days of concentrated therapeutic work. These extended sessions provide a deep, immersive experience tailored to your unique goals and needs, helping you process and release past pain more quickly and efficiently.

Typically, EMDR Intensives consist of three-hour sessions scheduled over one to three days.

How Does It Work?

Before your intensive, we’ll have a pre-intensive interview session to clarify your goals, assess your current support system and coping strategies, and identify the specific memories or issues we’ll target. I’ll also prepare a personalized workbook and assessments to help you get ready and to guide our work together.

During the intensive, we’ll focus on two main objectives:

  • Reducing the pain and recurrence of mental health symptoms associated with past experiences

  • Strengthening the positive, empowering parts of you

We’ll use EMDR reprocessing alongside techniques like guided meditation and somatic interventions—all supported by EMDR’s bilateral stimulation. Our work might explore early life experiences, recent traumas, current triggers, or ways to face future challenges. Every part of the process is personalized to you.

After the intensive, we’ll meet again for a post-intensive session to reflect on what stood out most and discuss how to carry your growth forward into everyday life.

2. Intensive (3 hr.)

3. Post-Intensive Session (1 hr.)

EMDR intensives are a good fit for:

  • People who are ready for deep reflection, meaningful change, and personal growth in a focused timeframe

  • People who struggle to fit therapy into their ongoing weekly rhythms

  • Those already in weekly therapy who feel stuck or on the edge of a breakthrough and want targeted, accelerated support

  • Anyone seeking timely, goal-oriented help and who values knowing exactly how much time they’ll spend in therapy

What is the cost of an intensive?

While the cost of an EMDR intensive is more upfront, it is often significantly more cost-effective in the long run compared to weekly therapy. Traditional weekly sessions can slow the healing process, as time is often spent managing daily stressors and crises rather than focused reprocessing.

Each intensive includes:

  • A pre-intensive session to set goals

  • A personalized client workbook to spend time on prior to EMDR processing and post-intensive

  • Focused EMDR session

  • A post-intensive integration session

The standard rate for a 3-hour EMDR Intensive is $1,200.
